Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOREEN LILY LaPORTE (GARN) Suddenly, after a short illness, on Monday, February 26, 2001, at Seven Oaks General Hospital. She leaves to mourn her daughter Sheri Gordon and husband Brad; father Arthur Garn; sisters, Linda Garn and Elaine Prokoppa and husband Russell and two nephews, Jeff and Devin Prokoppa. She was predeceased by her mother Lily Garn in 1999 and an infant brother. Doreen was born in Winnipeg on October 10, 1946, the eldest daughter of Arthur and Lily Garn. She was employed with Wendys Restaurant for the past 15 years, starting at the Polo Park location then moving to the King Edward Street location when it opened. She made many dear friends at Wendys whom she considered her second family. She was a fun, happy person, always greeting you with a smile and warm hello. She was loved by all of the customers, many of whom would make a special trip just to see her smile. She greatly enjoyed the shopping trips with her daughter each weekend, and enjoyed spending time with her many family and friends. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, March 3 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Cross, 560 Arlington St. The family wishes to thank all the nurses and staff on the 5th floor, unit 7 of SOGH for their excellent care. Special thanks to Sukhi for her kindness and compassion. Thank you also to Dr. Miller for his excellent care over the past several years.
